All eyes on incoming windstorm for South Washington.

So a potent low looks to move across Southern Washington tomorrow around 12pm. That means areas South of Olympia could get hammered with strong wind. Meanwhile Seattle looks to remain perfectly calm... If the low decides to track Slightly more North. A freak windstorm could occur near Seattle/ Tacoma. Updates on this weather situation tomorrow.

Big storm to hit Thursday into early Friday Morning

All day Thursday looks really wet and rainy as a good size storm moves in. The mountains will get hammered with snow. 2 to 3 feet! So prepare for more powder in the mountains. The are also seems to be a good shot of seeing some wind at the tail end of the storm, as another wave moves up from the South. Nothing major but note Thursday night into early morning Friday will be the strongest part of the storm. Scattered power outages possible! Updates to come...

Here is a look at the 48 hr snow fall in the mountains! Off the charts!

Storm Watch for Thursday Morning

Yup, it's been super rainy! Expect some flooding in some of the rivers tomorrow morning. The rain looks to get cut off around midnight but all the snow melt and rain water will be filling up those rivers. Also it will get breezy starting around around 1am after the front finally shifts South. Tomorrow will not be too much rain, but breezy winds and fast moving clouds!

Ok, so all eyes on the next developing storm! This one is going to be interesting. Not nearly as rainy, but the cold front that will sweep through Wed night will be strong! The GFS is actually showing a small low develop and spin up outside the gigantic low spinning off our coast! Very interesting.... The way it is positioned at this point doesn't look to be all that windy, not as much as it could be. Probably a wind advisory for gusts to 50 mph will be issued for early Thursday morning. If it develops any stronger it could cause a High Wind Warning to be issued for the Seattle area - but looks unlikely at this point. Bares watching for sure. Now the coast around Astoria gets hammered with 50 to 60 knot winds (70mph to 80mph gusts). So expect some damage and very high surf along the coast line! Will post another update tomorrow night to see how this storm is shaping up!

Tracking December Storm Development.

First off, it looks to get pretty windy late Tuesday night into Wedneday morning as our next low moves through. This low actually developed must further South then the last model runs showed. Which means stronger... So I am guessing a wind advisory might get issued for around 1am to 4am Wed morning. Not too bad, run of the mill Dec storm:
Ok, next up - we might have the same conundrum that happened last week when the windstorm last week never materialized. As explained nicely here by Cliff Mass: Blog Post
Wednesday there will be a massive low bombing out in the pacific headed towards the Pacific Northwest. This one is forecast to be massive! A low bombing this hard will make a turn up to the North. Which is will! -- Looks to bomb into North Vancouver Island: Check out this image of the latest GFS:
So lucky we look to be out of the path for this massive low. But, I think there is more to this story then meets the eye. There looks to be one of those very hard to track meso lows possibly bombing in the frontal Jet of the main low. Like the storm last week - this was forecast to happen last minute but never happened because cyclogenisis (the formation of a low pressure system) never quite developed. It was very close to happening but didn't quite achieve development. Not quite strong enough in the brocal zone. So, the question is, will a secondary low develop? And where will it track? If it tracks off the coast - which it most likely will if it even forms at all then the coast could get a blast of good wind, but Seattle and the interior won't see much. Now, if it develops, undergoes dangerous cyclogenisis last minute, and moves ashore (the very unlikely scenario)! then god Have Mercy on us haha... That would be very destructive and could cause widespread damage. So you know where to keep posted. The chances are small for anything significant but bares watching.
